  1. Happy happy happy Thursday to you, Susan! I clicked to enlarge and admired those beautiful specimens you've got growing. Water management officials are tightening water use restrictions on us now and we're desperate for rainfall. It's been way too warm here and way too dry, not a good combination during brush/muck fire season. I hope you are well and in good spirits, my special friend!

    1. A great Thursday it is, Shady. I'm off work for the rest of the week...getting some of that vacation time down. I think we're still behind on the rain train too, so we've opted to do some of our plantings in pots. The Zinnias love the heat and do well around here, in pots, and in the ground. Just throw the seeds out there! And, the potato was grown from a couple of store bought potatoes that took root. hah! A healthy plant, we'll see if it makes.

There were too many brushfires and a lot of properties burned up last year from this drought. I hope everyone fares better this summer...it is a concern. Thank you for stopping by and saying hello. When the Zinnia's bloom, I'll shoot some pics and post them. Have a cool weekend Shady!♫

  2. Happy Thursday to you too my friend! Your plants look very healthy I must say. We have had rain, rain and yet more rain over these past few days, which is very disappointing, although I believe it is going to be dry again for the next few days, so I'm hoping to be able to get out in the garden again. Can't wait for the greenhouse to be finished - hopefully this weekend, so that I can grow on lots of plants in there!

    1. Oh Thisisme, so good to see you again. It's threatening rain here for tonite and tomorrow, but we never can be sure. I hope it dries up enough for you to get some plantings done. I planted some alyssum seeds today and did a little arranging of some potted plants. It's been a nice breezy warm day...so glad to be home from work! Get that camera ready for your finished greenhouse-it will be gorgeous. Talk to you soon.♥

    1. Susan, we did get some rain overnight, and today too! So today we went to purchase some more plants for pots. And it rained on us, but, we didn't care. Went out for a nice lunch-a wonderful day. Thank you for coming over to visit...if it's Mother's Day weekend in Australia, I wish you a wonderful day! But, I wish you a wonderful weekend anyway.♥

  4. Looks like it is getting hot in your neck of the woods!!

Zinnias were the first seeds I ever planted at the age of 9 in Odessa,TX and I watered them morning and nite in that poor calache soil; they thrived. It put me on the path to growing flowers.

Please show those zinnias again when they bloom, Susan!

    1. Hi Nancy. My mother always had Zinnias when I was growing up, so, like you, we grew up with them. And, they were hardy, they can tolerate some poor soil. My husband, Karo loves Zinnias, and, we have more to plant. As cut flowers, they last quite a while. I hope to get some good photos when they bloom. Thank you for stopping by, and Happy Mother's Day to you, dear friend.♥

  5. Susan, thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my pics. Thanks a million for the advice. I am going to the garden center soon and I think I will buy some Begonias and some other plants you suggested. Come back and visit any time, no rush please!!!

Your plants look so green and pretty!!! We had lots of rain last night. I was very pleased because my garden needed it! Our sprinklers are not working now and I have neglected it a bit... and then I complain about my sad garden lol.

    Happy Friday Susan!!!
    xoxo

    1. Hi Ziggy! We got rain last nite too, and, also today. You might like impatiens too! They grow almost the same as begonias, but are much brighter in color, and can take some shade. They will wilt under too much sun, but, when watered, they perk up again. Went to Home Depot today and got a few plants. Sweet potato vine is real popular in Fort Worth. The lime green color is really bright when grouped with bright reds or purples. I know what you mean about neglecting flower beds...I've done that, then, I feel guilty! Thank you so much for stopping by. Will come back over to see you soon. Happy Mother's Day, my friend!♥
